Method of Cashmere shearing

1. The goats should not be fed with food and water for 12 ~ 24 hours before shearing. For goats get wet in the rain, we should wait for the wool to dry first, because is difficult to cut and keep the wet wool.

2. To shear for cashmere, the shaver should be close to the skin, cut all the cashmere of a goat evenly at one time, ensure the remaining stubble on skin sat very short length, avoid second time cutting even if the stubble is too high, so as not to affect the average length of cashmere fibre.

3. During shearing process, be careful to keep away from cashmere the manure, weeds and etc.. Cashmere shall be kept intact for subsequent grading job.

4. Cashmere should be sheared as quickly as possible. Gently turn the goats to avoid injuries caused by rumen distention and intestinal volvulus.

5. Avoid hurting the skin of goats, pay special attention to the soft skin of the foreskin and scrotum of a ram and the breasts of an ewe. In the rare case the skin is cut, we disinfect, apply medicine or perform surgical suture in time to avoid infection.

6. After shearing, we monitor the goats and do not immediately herd the goats in lush grassland, because the goats may suffer from digestive issues from eating too much after fasting. It is not suitable to herd goats for a long distance within a week after shearing, in case of sudden climate change.  In addition, we protect the goats from grazing in strong sunlight to avoid burning the skin of goats until their coats begin to grow back in.
